History
Androcentrism is a word and practice of placing the male gender of male human being as the point of view of the world, and it's culture and history. The majority of children's books are written by the male gender. They like to place their own point of view in the stories that they form. This term is a process of societal fixation on masculinity where all things originate. In history boys and men were expected to have better and higher education rather than that of women. Women were less likely able to read and write; which formed written material to be in reflection to the male point of view. Today, however, women have far better chances at access to education. The majority in societies books, book reviews, articles, and magazines are written predominately by the male gender. Therefore literature privileges the male view point a lot more than the female view point. For example, only 17% of books reviewed by The New York Times were written by women. There are twice as many male main characters in books than any other culture, and most plot lines are based on the male experiences of life.
